Synopsis
A wandering ne'er-do-well with a criminal past shows up at his mother's house to regroup only to find his overrefined and overeducated brother there, house-sitting and working on a screenplay. The two quickly set into one another, even seeming to switch roles as their furious jealousy mounts and each tries to beat the other at his own game.

Industry Reviews
"TRUE WEST avoids the tangle of pretension and obfuscation that mars so much of Shepard's work; it's an appealingly modest play, which skillfully translates psychology into behavior--in this case, the murderous, spoiling work of envy."
New Yorker - John Lahr (03/27/2000)
