Movie Description
One of Hollywood's best--and best-known--composers, John Williams has composed some of the most recognizable soundtracks of all time, including JAWS, STAR WARS, and INDIANA JONES. In 1977 he scored the second film of his longstanding collaboration with director Steven Spielberg, and CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND greatly benefited from his music--much of which was composed before photography even began, allowing large chunks of the movie to be filmed with the soundtrack in mind. Haunting, tense, and subtle, this is one of the rare movie scores that stands alone, making for excellent listening with or without its accompanying film.
