Movie Description
THE REPLACEMENTS: Inspired by the too-ludicrous-to-be-believed National Football League strike of 1987, Howard Deutch's THE REPLACEMENTS follows a team of scab players as they fill in for the real pros. The newly formed squad must learn to set aside its differences if it is to win three out of four games and make it to the playoffs. Gene Hackman and Keanu Reeves star in this gridiron comedy.
TIN CUP: A lackadaisical one-time golf pro (Kevin Costner), now operating a run-down driving range in Texas, gets his competitive juices flowing again when a slick former colleague shows up and asks him to be his--gasp!--caddie. Not only will the washed-up hacker not deign to be a caddie, he falls for and ultimately seduces the pro's beautiful psychologist girlfriend and launches a motivated bid for the U.S. Open.
SUMMER CATCH: Ryan Dunne (Freddie Prinze Jr.) pitches a mean fastball, which is why he's been chosen for the elite Cape Cod Baseball League. But Ryan too often chokes up on the pitcher's mound--his mother's death and his father's drinking have left him with some pretty heavy baggage to carry. The sensitive and smart Tenley (Jessica Biel) helps her handsome guy overcome his fears, on and off the field. As she tells Ryan, "If you want big rewards, you gotta take big risks."
