Movie Description The 1970s gave rise to a new genre known as the "disaster movie," whose basic blueprint involved an all-star cast of characters trapped together during a major catastrophe. This double feature presents two of the most quintessential 1970s disaster flicks: AIRPORT (1970) follows a series of emergencies at a large Midwestern airport on a snowy night, including a passenger threatening to blow up a plane; while EARTHQUAKE (1974) centers around a devastating Los Angeles earthquake and its shocking aftermath. Superstars Burt Lancaster and Charlton Heston anchor the respective casts, which also include such 1970s icons as George Kennedy, Walter Matthau, Maureen Stapleton, and Richard Roundtree.
