In the mercurial world of hip-hop, there are precious few things one can count on, but one of them is the pimp-rap of Oakland's Too Short. A true veteran, Too Short's been at it since the '80s, a fact he's not too shy to remind us of on YOU NASTY. Too Short has never had any qualms about portraying himself as a pimp/player, a true cynic who eschews any form of romanticism in favor of the old wham-bam-thank-you-ma'am, perhaps minus the "thank you." Throughout YOU NASTY he remains consistent with his reputation, detailing the ways in which he uses women for both sex and profit. Clearly, he won't win the hearts of PC listeners, but anyone interested in sonic missives straight from the heart of down-and-dirty pimp culture, delivered over funky west coast beats, will find just what they want here.

...[He] brings that Bay area nastiness we love him for - with authority this time....the beats will pound and the pimped-out lyrics will cause more than a few raised eyebrows....with rhymes that never fall short of hilarious and production too heated to ever get luke warm.
