Album Notes Engineers: Nolan "Dr. No" Moffitte, Steve Sola, Marotta. The Wu-Tang Clan produced some of the most progressive, idiosyncratic, and often downright unsettling hip-hop of the '90s. Forsaking gangsta cliches, Wu-Tang concerns itself instead with socio-cultural issues, biblical allusions and complex metaphorical schemes. RZA's SWARM project maintains the consistency of the Wu-Tang vision while incorporating some outside artists into the mix. From Sunz of Man and Shyheim to Ruthless Bastards and Bobby Digital, the participants contribute to the ominous, verbose, intellectual Wu-Tang ethic that fans have come to love. While THE SWARM is ostensibly a various artists collection, it's credited to a congregation identified as the Wu-Tang Killa Bees, and this combination of Wu-Tang members and talented friends makes every track here glow with pure hip-hop energy.
