Album Notes Personnel: John Wesley Harding (vocals, guitar, kazoo); Earl Slick, Kurt Bloch, Peter Buck (guitar); Jim Brunberg (banjo); Robert Lloyd (mandolin, keyboard); Deni Bonet (violin, viola); Zach Brock, Olivia DePrato (violin); Lev Zhurbin (viola); Mike Block, Stephanie Winters (cello); Steve Berlin (baritone saxophone); Sycil Mathai (trumpet, flugelhorn); Ben Herrington (trombone); Frederick Chalenor (upright bass); Scott Maccaughy (bass guitar); Bill Rieflin (drums); Ken Lovelett (percussion); Kelly Hogan, Mike Viola (background vocals). Arranger: John Wesley Harding. For half a decade, folk-rocker Wesley Harding Stace dropped his Dylan-inspired stage name and devoted himself to a successful second career as a novelist. WHO WAS CHANGED AND WHO WAS DEAD is Harding's comeback album, a crisp, rootsy set of typically clever, tuneful songs with wry lyrics. Guests include the Minus Five as his primary backing band, as well as Los Lobos saxophonist Steve Berlin. Also includes a bonus live greatest hits disc, DON'T LOOK BACK NOW, recorded in Brooklyn's Union Hall in 2008.
