Album Notes Personnel includes: Jayo Felony, Ice Cube, E-40, Snoop Dog, Mack 10, Eightball, MJG, Method Man, DMX. Producers include: DJ Silk, T-Phunk, T-Mix, Jayo, E-A-Ski. Engineers include: Greg Royal, Kenny McCloud, E-A-Ski. On his second album, Jayo Felony neatly avoids the dreaded sophomore slump syndrome by refusing to adhere to any formula. While Jayo's streetwise visions are full of anger, violence and expletive-filled blows against the empire, the tunes on WHATCHA GONNA DO are tempered by a more thoughtful, considered sensibility that adds a literate resonance to the raps here. There are some stellar guest appearances here, from Snoop Doggy Dogg, Eightball, Method Man and others, but Jayo Felony's vocal presence is strong enough to keep the focus on his limber delivery and carefully constructed lyrics. WHATCHA GONNA DO is East Coast rap at it's finest, musically imaginative and verbally unrelenting.
