Synopsis A boy who goes to Barrow, Alaska, to live with friends of his father for awhile learns the importance of whaling to the Eskimo culture., Lincoln Stonewright is sent by his father from his New England home to live in an Alaskan whaling camp. Totally unprepared for this new life, Lincoln learns that he is part Eskimo. With the help and encouragement of an Eskimo captain, Lincoln gains courage and understanding, but it's his connection with the whale, Nukik, that helps Lincoln understand his heritage.
