Album Notes Composer: Terence Blanchard. The summer 2006 action flick WAIST DEEP follows 02 (Tyrese Gibson) as he robs banks with the help of Coco (Meagan Good) to raise money to pay the ransom for his kidnapped son. The film's soundtrack has a vibe that matches the movie's stylish, high-octane energy, and features some of the hottest hip-hop sounds of the early-2000s. Ghostface Killah (his "Be Easy" is one of the album's highlights), Ice Cube, and Bone Thugs-N-Harmony are among the heavyweights on the soundtrack, but there are some notable up-and-comers as well. The slowed-down, Southern-style bounce of "Hey" by Dub and Young S. is designed to make jeep speakers rattle, while the ragga-inflected R&B of Black Buddafly and Fabolous's "Bad Girls" brings a welcome female voice to the mix. In addition to complementing the film, the WAIST DEEP soundtrack is a fine hip-hop mix.
