Recorded in Luckenbach, Texas on October 20-22, 1993. Recorded in Luckenbach, Texas, the live VIVA LUCKENBACH is the 20-years-after sequel to VIVA TERLINGUA, Jerry Jeff Walker's best known album. Walker reprises "Getting' By," which was also the opener on the original, but everything else here is relatively unfamiliar, and it's a slightly rowdier album than its predecessor. It may not gain the same import in the outlaw country annals as TERLINGUA has, but Walker and his Lost Gonzos band are in terrific form. The performances are off-the-cuff, drawing from favorites going back as far as his 1968 oldie "I Makes Money (Money Don't Make Me)." There are also two very funny readings from the works of Hondo Crouch, the Luckenbach legend who (for want of a better phrase) mentored Walker in Gonzo.
