Synopsis Montreal-based journalist Ian Halperin spent five years working on his exposé of the last 15 years of Michael Jackson's life. Going undercover into Neverland and talking with anyone who had something to say, Halperin pieced together his theories about the King of Pop, for instance: Jackson was gay; Jackson was not a child molester. Halperin gives little attention to the first 35 years of the star's life--the time during which the child prodigy reached the heights of his commercial and artistic success as a young adult. This book is more about the effects that unparalleled success had on Jackson's psychological and physical health. Halperin claims to have predicted Jackson's death, and whether or not those claims hold water, he certainly paints a picture of an unhealthy man in UNMASKED.
