Movie Description
In 1950s Britain, proof of infidelity was the surest and easiest way to get a divorce. Enter Tony Aaron (Liam Neeson), a down on his luck private eye with a seedy career -- arranging fake evidence to end marriages. Tony's wife gets into bed with a client and Tony rushes in wielding a camera. Snap!!! ...and the job is done. But on one particular occasion Tony rushes in, and instead of a lascivious pose, Tony sees his wife and client brutally carved into pieces. And the major suspect seems to be Angeline - his client's mistress (Laura San Giacomo). The evidence is stacked against her. But as the investigation unfolds, the police start coming across clues that put Tony smack in the middle of this dark little conspiracy.

Synopsis
A private eye who makes a living setting up phony adultery cases becomes involved in intrigue when a routine case gets both his wife and his client murdered. The client's mistress and the detective are both pegged as prime suspects, and when they launch a torrid affair of their own it appears someone may get away with murder.

Film Notes
Produced in association with Carnival Films.

Color by Rank Color; filmed in Panavision.

"Under Suspicion" is the feature film directorial debut for 32-year-old playwrite Simon Moore.

The year 1959 is an important issue in the plot of "Under Suspicion". The death penalty was revoked just a few years later and adultery was still the favorite and easiest way for British couples to divorce.

Industry Reviews
"...[Neeson] gives a compelling performance..."
Entertainment Weekly - Owen Gleiberman (03/13/1992)
