Movie Description
Two of William Shakespeare's most well-known plays are given startling new adaptations in these versions of TWELFTH NIGHT and MACBETH. The classic gender-bending comedy TWELFTH NIGHT has been reworked to focus on the play's more dramatic elements by director Tim Supple. During his career with the British stage, Supple has developed a reputation for innovative adaptations of classic works that highlight subtle and buried elements of those works. TWELFTH NIGHT is revisioned with a multicultural cast that includes Parminder Nagra (BEND IT LIKE BECKHAM) and Chiwetel Ejiofor (DIRTY PRETTY THINGS). Michael Bogdanov, director of eight productions with the Royal Shakespeare Company, directs a spartan version of MACBETH. "The Scottish Play" has been pared down to its essentials and shot against a stark mise-en-scene of urban decay, emphasizing the austerity of Bogdanov's plotting and mirroring the inner condition of the famed protagonist-villain and his wife. New breath has been breathed into two of Shakespeare's most familiar plays by celebrated theatrical directors with TWELFTH NIGHT and MACBETH.
