Movie Description This fine animated version of the popular children's story about a tuba who's not satisfied with the noise he makes features the voices of Dick Van Dyke, Pearl Bailey, Jack Gilford, and Hermione Gingold.
Synopsis In this animated video, the classic "Tubby the Tuba" musical albums that have been loved by children all over the world are brought to life.
As the story begins, Tubby bids farewell to life in the Great Orchestra after a long time playing nothing but "oompahs" with the band. Free at last, he sets out into the wide world to find a melody he can call his own.
His journey brings him first to a circus, where he performs a dancing elephant routine that quickly becomes popular. From there, he travels to the sparkling streets of Singing City. There, he falls in love with a beautiful orphan melody.
With the guidance of a friendly bullfrog, he soon learns the importance of remaining true to himself and discovers the secret song he's been looking for.
Film Notes Additional credits: Alexander Schure (producer and director), Paul Tripp (original story, book, lyrics, and narration), Lehman Engel (additional music and musical direction), and Ray Carter (new songs).
