These heartfelt pieces of Marco Antonio Solis' flow together like the soundtrack to your favorite telenovela. Perhaps it is this intensely personal element which has garnered such attention for TROZOS--every song is sung in the first person, offering stirring accounts of matters of the heart. They're all quite lovely, and yet rather sad too. There's the shattering lilt of Solis' voice on "Si No Te Hubieras Ido," with the chorus declaring, "There's nothing more difficult than life without you." "Sigue Sin Mi," on the other hand, speaks of getting on with life and wishing the best for an old flame to the delicate sound of the string section. Solis is one of the few singers in the Latin pop/ballad genre who pens all the tunes, and the results are quite fine. The language is simple and effective, and producer/arranger Bebu Silvetti does a skillful job of shaping the music to be equally touching.
