They're baaaack! And they will make you believe the '90s never happened. The most beloved of the late-'70s/early-'80s "logo bands" has returned for its first album in 10 years, with its five-man lineup intact, and without making the mistakes of so many of its contemporaries on the rock revival circuit. Steve Perry's soaring voice still rings like a silver bell, and the band remains solidly centered on the power-ballad style Journey perfected more than a decade earlier. Neil Schon's frenetic guitarwork straddles the line between pop and hard rock. Jonathan Cain fills out the sound with bright piano riffs and dense layers of atmospheric keyboards. You might forget Journey ever went away.
