Synopsis
Stacy, a Chinese-Amercian girl living in San Francisco, has always felt more American than Chinese. When her parents ask her to befriend Hong Ch'un, a newly arrived Chinese immigrant, Stacy is uncomfortable. At first embarrassed by Hong Ch'un's out-of-style clothing and strong opinions, Stacy finds herself defending the girl when she is accused of stealing. As Stacy gets to know Hong Ch'un better, she also begins to know herself., When Stacy is paired with a Chinese girl at school who is accused of theft, she must come to terms with her own Chinese and American heritage.

Booklist - Hazel Rochman (07/19/1995)

"This is a poignant story, challenging issues that plague our diverse culture with sensitivity through an honest plot and likable characters who are human in their fallibility."
