For some reason, most blues reissue CDs are compilations and repackages, and so it's nice to occasionally see a classic blues album from decades ago be reissued in its original form, intact and not overburdened with extra tracks.
When he moved from his native Clarksdale, Mississippi, to Chicago during the great wartime migration of the '40s, the former McKinley Morganfield sowed the seeds of a revolution, marrying the structures of acoustic Delta blues to the electrified full-band sound of urban jump blues to almost single-handedly create the Chicago blues style, a major development in the eventual creation of rock & roll. These 12 tracks, including such classics as "Crawlin' Kingsnake" and the boastful title track, are essential for blues and rock fans alike.
