Album Notes Originally discovered by the late Big Pun, Bronx native Remy Ma was later recruited by Terror Squad leader Fat Joe to be the only female artist in that crew. On her debut, a blend of smooth rhythms like "Feels So Good" laced with confrontational tracks like "Tight" and the title track, her prickly flow highlights her skill at flaunting her considerable self-esteem. But when she admits her frailty on tracks like "Still" ("even people with a fan base have bad days..."), about the changes wrought by fame, and "What's Going On," about her ambivalence towards an unwanted pregnancy, her vulnerability gives an unexpectedly poignant dimension to the bluster.
Industry Reviews After spending much of her debut asserting that she's fearless, it's her most vulnerable tracks that finally prove it. -- Grade: B
[T]his Bronx bombshell takes her hip-hop seriously....She has the guts to retain her femininity while hanging out with the guys. -- Grade: B-
3 stars out of 5 -- Remy's rapid-fire flow and spacious synth-bounce are up to the challenge....Remy flaunts her fierceness and sex appeal...
