Movie Description
When a Merchant Marine takes shore leave at a Mexican port he is mistaken for a smuggler wanted for murder. In order to escape he throws in with an unlikely couple whose mysterious dealings lead the three on an uncertain and explosive journey across Mexico. Rosanna Arquette smolders as the sexually flammable wife and John Lithgow delivers one of his best performances as her overbearing husband.

Synopsis
Alex Walker could be convicted on circumstantial evidence alone. He's just been standing over the fresh corpse of a man who robbed him and he's got the murder weapon in his hand. Rather than stick around and wait for the cops to show, Alex decides to escape by hiding in the back of a nearby convertible. Several miles down the road, he discovers that the car belongs to a strange married couple -- an oddly paired duo he'll wish he had never met.

Film Notes
"The Wrong Man" was screened in the "Un Certain Regard" section of the 1993 Cannes Film Festival.

Do not confuse with the 1957 Alfred Hitchcock classic of the same name, which starred Henry Fonda as a musician erroneously accused of armed robbery. That film also featured Vera Miles as Fonda's distraught wife, and Anthony Quayle.

Shot in CFI color.

Industry Reviews
"There are few things in life more entertaining than the spectacle of [these]...actors impersonating white trash..."
Entertainment Weekly - Glenn Kenny (01/21/1994)

"...Lithgow gives a memorable reading of a volatile man....THE WRONG MAN seethes with languid humidity, sexy sweat and the grime of crime..."
Variety - Todd McCarthy (05/24/1993)
