Movie Description Darren Shan's Cirque du Freak book series for young readers takes a bite out of the screen with this adaptation from writer-director Paul Weitz (ABOUT A BOY). When 16-year-old Darren (Chris Massoglia) attends a circus sideshow, he gets far more than just a few hours of gaping at the strange performers. Vampire Larten Crepsley (John C. Reilly) makes Darren into one of his own, and the teen soon joins the tour, traveling along with the bearded lady (Salma Hayek) and the barker (Ken Watanabe) as he's drawn into a war between the supernatural creatures. Patrick Fugit, Orlando Jones, Willem Dafoe, and Jane Krakowski co-star.
Industry Reviews "The look of the film has a great, eerie Victorian storybook quality to it." Los Angeles Times - Betsy Sharkey (10/23/2009)
"John C. Reilly is a new breed of vampire in CIRQUE DU FREAK....His life-affirming code of ethics bolsters his biting wit." USA Today - Claudia Puig (10/23/2009)
