"...[T]here is little in this book that hasn't been said before. Saul displays both the strengths and weaknesses of the visionary/prophetic style. With their gaze fixed upon the horizon, visionaries may see deeper into the nature of things than other mortals. But they often aren't very good listeners. At ease with Plato, Terence, John of Salisbury, and David Hume, Saul pays little attention to anyone born after 1900."
