Movie Description
Originally shot as a television mini-series, THE THORN BIRDS is the story of an Australian-based family who live on a ranch. Local priest Ralph de Bricassart (Richard Chamberlain) has a tortuous relationship with daughter of the family, Meggie (Rachel Ward), which ultimately proves doomed. Instead, Meggie chooses to marry a local man, Luke O'Neill (Bryan Brown), leaving a constant question mark looming over what might have been. Covering a vast 60 year period in the life of the family, plenty of twists and turns unfold for Meggie and co. over the course of THE THORN BIRDS, resulting in a fine piece of period drama that has proved highly popular since first airing in 1983.
