Synopsis In this retelling with pop-up illustrations, Peter disobeys his mother by going into Mr. McGregor's garden and almost gets caught., Mrs. Rabbit has four little bunnies--Flopsy, Mopsy, Cotton-tail, and Peter. Although Flopsy, Mopsy, and Cotton-tail are good little rabbits who always listen to their mother, Peter is a spirited bunny who prefers a day of adventure to quietly gathering blackberries with his siblings. Although his mother warns him to stay out of Mr. McGregor's garden, Peter just can't help himself, and he's soon in the garden nibbling on carrots and French beans. However, just as he's looking for a bit of parsley to settle his now full stomach, Peter runs right into Mr. McGregor--and Mr. McGregor isn't happy to see him. Will Peter be able to escape from the vengeful gardener? Watercolor illustrations accompany the text. Originally written by Beatrix Potter to entertain the son of her former governess, THE TALE OF PETER RABBIT was first published in 1901 by the author/illustrator herself. The story proved so popular that in 1902, publisher Frederick Warne agreed to print the book, and since that time this classic tale of a naughty rabbit who has a scary adventure has never been out of print., Mrs. Rabbit has four little bunnies--Flopsy, Mopsy, Cotton-tail, and Peter. Although his sisters are good little rabbits who always listen to their mother, spirited Peter prefers a day of adventure to meekly gathering blackberries. Despite his mother's warnings to stay out of Mr. McGregor's garden, Peter just can't help himself. He's soon in the garden, gaily nibbling away at the carrots. Just as Peter's looking for a bit of parsley, he runs into a furious Mr. McGregor. Will this naughty bunny be able to escape from the vengeful gardener?
