Synopsis
This darkly humorous yet appropriately sentimental Christmas fable by the author of LAMB and THE LUST LIZARD OF MELANCHOLY COVE features several characters who first appeared in Christopher Moore's previous novels. Christmas is a season rife with good intentions gone awry. Lena Marquez, trespassing on her ex-husband Dale's land in order to steal Christmas trees and give them to the poor, has accidentally killed Dale (who was dressed in a Santa suit) with a shovel. A little boy who witnessed the murder now believes Santa is dead, and has subsequently prayed for Santa to return to life. Unfortunately, he does so within earshot of an appallingly clueless angel sent to Earth to perform a Christmas miracle by fulfilling a child's wish. It's going to be a holly, zombie Christmas....

Publisher's Notes
First Line: "Christmas crept into Pine Cove like a creeping Christmas thing: dragging garland, ribbon, and sleigh bells, oozing eggnog, reeking of pine, and threatening festive doom like a cold sore under the mistletoe."

Industry Reviews
"Hilarity abounds in Moore's latest satirical gem....This little slice of perverse Christmas cheer is enough to make even the most cynical Scrooge guffaw."
Publishers Weekly (10/04/2004)

"Mr. Moore, whose cult readership finds him delightful for good reason, marches to his own little drummer boy....THE STUPIDEST ANGEL is a gleeful string of gags and wisecracks....Mr. Moore is seriously wicked about humor....Mr. Moore is clearly the unhinged Hiaasen. He's "Daily Show"-funny and willing to subvert anything."
New York Times - Janet Maslin (10/14/2004)

"[A] good antidote for anyone involuntarily overdosing on Dickens and Disney in the holiday season....[T]horoughly silly, and a lot of fun."
Locus - Faren Miller (12/01/2004)

"[D]eliciously nasty....[A] refreshingly twisted anti-Christmas tale."
Locus - Carolyn Cushman (12/01/2004)
