Synopsis In this good old-fashioned tearjerker, an automobile accident and a scheming mother come between a pair of star-crossed lovers.
Nancy, a talented painter, and Michael, an up-and-coming architect, are very much in love and plan to marry -- despite the protests of his rich mother, Marion, who looks down upon Nancy because of the young woman's lack of wealth.
The lovers decide to elope, but on the way to the justice of the peace, they get into a terrible automobile accident. Michael remains in a coma for days, but finally comes out of it with only a minor injury. However, Nancy's face has been scarred beyond recognition.
Marion visits Nancy in the hospital and offers to pay for an expensive operation that will give the young woman a beautiful new face... if Nancy never sees Michael again. Convinced that Michael no longer wants to be with her anyway, Nancy agrees.
Meanwhile, Michael's mother has told him that Nancy died in the accident and he must carry on without her. Will the two lovers ever learn the truth and be reunited?
