When a flock of them alights in John Farrington's yard to ask him for help, the young boy begins a quest to find a green refuge for his winged friends. With full-color illustrations., When surrounded by thousands of butterflies, eleven-year-old John becomes transformed into one of them and finds his entire life altered because of this experience.

Industry Reviews "[M]agical, misty watercolor illustrations...turn a rather unbelievable story into a meaningful fairy tale with an ecological message and a comforting, metaphorical view of life after death." Kirkus Reviews (03/01/2002)
