Movie Description THE POPE OF GREENWICH VILLAGE tells the gritty story of Charlie (Mickey Rourke) and his cousin Paulie (Eric Roberts), two down-on-their-luck small-time hoods out to make a score in New York's Little Italy. When their plan goes bad, they find themselves in trouble with the local mob, as well as the law. The film was adapted from Vincent Patrick's own best-seller.
Synopsis Levelheaded Charlie and hotheaded Paulie are two Italian cousins in debt and out of work, but they share a dream of becoming rich. Paulie's solution: to enlist the help of safecracker Barney and steal $150,000 in cash. But during the robbery, a corrupt cop who's also out to steal the money happens upon the trio and is accidentally murdered. Charlie and Paulie now find themselves deep in hot water, especially since the money they've stolen belongs to Bedbug Eddie, a neighborhood gangster now seeking revenge on the petty thieves.
