Synopsis Bay McCabe always knew her husband Sean didn't have the highest of moral standards, but she is shocked when he disappears and it's discovered that he's embezzled quite a lot of money from her and other residents of their small, seaside town. When Sean turns up dead, Bay is convinced that he has been murdered--and that whoever murdered him was also involved in the embezzlement scheme. As Bay examines her husband's secret life, she bonds with another one of Sean's victims, Daniel Connolly--a handsome widower on whom Bay once had a teenage crush. However, just as Bay and Daniel are taking tentative steps towards romance, they uncover a connection between their deceased spouses that could tear them apart forever.

Industry Reviews "Rich with scenic settings and colorful characters, this is a beautifully crafted plot despite some 11th-hour plot contrivances. Rice's ability to evoke the lyricism of the seaside lifestyle without over-sentimentalizing contemporary issues like adultery, anorexia or white-collar crime is just one of the many gifts that make this a perfect summer read."
