What's that? You ask how ON MY WAY differs from the other Paul Simon collection NEGOTIATIONS & LOVE SONGS? Well, for one thing the ensuing 14 years since the initial release of the latter gives this disc a considerable advantage by allowing for the inclusion of material from the Brazilian-inflected THE RHYTHM OF THE SAINTS and the similarly pancultural-sounding YOU'RE THE ONE, two of the finest albums in Simon's catalog. Naturally, as on NEGOTIATIONS, all the bases of Simon's '70s hits ("Kodachrome," "Loves Me Like a Rock," etc.) are covered, but there's also a bonus disc of previously unreleased live material. Even the much-maligned CAPEMAN project gets a fair hearing on this collection via "Adios Hermanos." So if you don't want to shell out for a box set, ON MY WAY is a pretty damn representative set.
