Synopsis This exploration of the relation between environment and identity is a social and cultural history of two communities existing side by side in modern-day Israel. Originally a Palestinian village called Ein Houd, the site in question became a Jewish artists' cooperative following Israel's independence, when it was renamed Ein Hod. The Arab inhabitants of Ein Houd built a new village about a mile away, but have not achieved their goal of returning to the original spot.
