Synopsis
Unless a person has already developed good financial sense by the time they get their first credit card, it can be very easy to slide into debt. What starts out as a small celebratory spending spree (such as moving into one's first apartment) can evolve into a seemingly inescapable situation as interest becomes compounded at a staggering rate. Feeling there is no way out, one may decide to pursue the solace of spending more, and this may become a compulsion. This is the root of debt addiction, a very real problem comparable to food or alcohol addiction.
