Georgia, 1945. Frankie Addams, an angst-ridden, pre-pubescent tomboy, spends hours daydreaming. The motherless youngster fantasizes about being a member of her brother's wedding but is saddened when she learns she won't be going along on the honeymoon. Mr. Addams, Frankie's father, is oblivious to the physical and emotional changes his daughter's going through. So when she's troubled, Frankie turns to Berenice, the family's black cook, with whom she finds solace, companionship and joy.
Film Notes Brandon De Wilde made his screen acting debut in "The Member of the Wedding," reprising his stage role.
