Synopsis
Revamping H. G. Wells's seminal science fiction novel, THE WAR OF THE WORLDS, Alan Moore and Kevin O'Neill bring back the motley crew of literary avengers, the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. As in the first volume in this series, the authors load up their graphic novel with pounds--or kilograms--of references to Victorian British and American fiction. Prime examples are the series' lead characters: Mina Murray née Harker from Bram Stoker's DRACULA and Allan (sic) Quartermain from H. Rider Haggard's KING SOLOMON'S MINES. Other major players in this volume include Griffin (from H.G. Wells's THE INVISBLE MAN), Dr. Jekyll, and Captain Nemo.
