Industry Reviews A splendid account in extensive expert text and hundreds of color and b&w photos of the diverse ecological niches and cultural remains of the Inca civilization through 11,000 years and stretching over 2,600 miles. Morris is the curator of anthropology for South American Archaeology at the American Museum of Natural History. His writing is deeply informed, unassailable (he makes liberal use of such modifiers as "putative", "thought to be"...) and rather mechanical. This work is necessarily sketchy, covering so much ground as it does. The bibliography guides the reader to more extensive writings and is current through early 1993. An admirable survey.
