Album Notes This 1998 reissue includes five bonus tracks. 1985's THE FURY is Gary Numan's second independent release on his own Numa label, set up following the dissolution of his six-year tenure with the influential UK indie Beggar's Banquet. The album finds the science fiction-obsessed synthesist/guitarist consolidating the artistic gains of its predecessor, BERSERKER. Synthesizers, Numan's instrument of choice, had made enormous technological strides since the moderately primitive early days of 1980's "Cars." THE FURY's soundscapes are lush and pristine. MIDI sequencers provide a seamless electronic pulse, and early versions of samplers supply sonic texture and detail on such well-arranged songs as the driving "Call Out the Dogs" and the Philip K. Dick-inspired "This Disease." The latter borrows sound effects and dialog from the 1981 film BLADE RUNNER. This reissue contains five bonus tracks, including B-sides and demos.
