Synopsis
In a post-apocalyptic society, some children are born with various forms of psychic powers that develop during adolescence--a "defect" that warrants death when detected by their elders. In this, the second volume of the Obernewtyn Chronicles, Elspeth and her friends try to save one of their own, a "mutant" forced to live in exile by the repressive Council.
