In 1906 Carlo was born into a very large family. As he dresses for his 80th birthday and generations of family arrive to celebrate, he reflects upon the past - personal triumphs, family comedies and tragedies - and mostly the people and the passions that have changed his life.
Synopsis
Episodic tale covering nearly a century in the history of an Italian family. The film follows Carlo, the clan's patriarch and the story's central character, from his birth in 1906, through his childhood and his lifelong infatuation with his wife's sister, and concludes with his eightieth birthday party in 1986.
