Album Notes
THE COMPLETE PRESTIGE/BLUESVILLE RECORDINGS contains 112 songs representing Lightnin' Hopkins complete output for the Prestige and Bluesville labels from 1960 to 1964, including 13 tracks from a previously unreleased 1963 Swarthmore College concert. Also contained in this set are interview segments from a rare '64 Bluesville album, a 32-page booklet and a complete discography.
Personnel: Lightnin' Hopkins (vocals, guitar); Sonny Terry (vocals, harmonica); Billy Bizor (harmonica); Buster Pickens (piano); Leonard Gaskin, Donald Cooks (bass); Belton Evans, Spider Kilpatrick, Herbie Lovelle (drums).
Principally recorded at Van Gelder Studios, Englewood, New Jersey and ACA (Gold Star) Studios, Houston, Texas between October 26, 1960 and December 2, 1964. Includes liner notes by Samuel Charters.
