Movie Description
A popular silent picture comedian has difficulty in making the transition to talkies. This film is an attempt at an homage to the silent era, with Van Dyke as an over the top actor buoyed by good fortune but sunk by self-immolation. Unable to cope with the advances of the industry, he sinks further and further into a pit of despair where not even his friends can help. Van Dyke narrates the movie from his coffin, treating each scene as a flashback.
