Details

Synopsis This is the third in a Science Fantasy series concerning Miriam Beckstein, a Boston journalist who learns that her true heritage lies in another world, where she is Countess Helge of the Clan, a coalition of related noble families with the power to walk between worlds. A traitor to the Clan has made it impossible for Miriam to return to Boston without landing in prison, and her relatives are blocking her travel to a third world where she runs a successful business. As a result, Miriam/Helge is stuck in the medieval world of her origins, still mourning the recent death of her cousin and lover Roland, forced to learn all of the petty niceties of noblewoman behavior, struggling to avoid a marriage to an idiot prince, and, as always, facing deadly threats from inside and outside her newfound family.
