Synopsis
War correspondent Daniel McFarland is posted to Uganda, where things do not go well. Several colleagues are killed during an assignment, and Daniel begins to have doubts about many of the things he has believed about his work--and his life as well. Then he falls in love with an idealistic doctor named Julia, and escapes with her to London in an attempt to put the horrors of war behind him--but when they find themselves in East Timor in a final attempt to do some good in the world, Daniel must choose between the demands of his assignment and the reality of human suffering.
