Movie Description A standard of the sword-and-sorcery genre, THE BEASTMASTER takes its place alongside CONAN THE BARBARIAN and WILLOW. Dar, the Beastmaster, is a warrior in a mythic land who has the power to communicate with animals. He sets out on a quest to destroy the villainous cult leader Maax, who engages in human sacrifice and murdered Dar's parents. Along the way, he meets an assortment of other adventurers, and the motley crew helps Dar bypass the many trials he must endure before he can confront Maax. THE BEASTMASTER was made during the early 1980s craze for fantasy adventure films, and still stands as one of the most popular. It was directed by cult filmmaker Don Coscarelli (PHANTASM, BUBBA HO-TEP).
Synopsis A hunky young man in a leather thong travels through the desert battling a wide array of mad sorcerers and bulky swordsmen as he attempts to avenge the destruction of his village. A posse of variously mischievous and deadly animal friends aid him in this bloody quest, as does a magical sword, which helps him out of several tight scrapes.
