Synopsis
Smith has retired from his career as an assassin and is trying to lead a quiet life. Unfortunately, that doesn't seem to be possible. When Smith takes a job as a caravan master, he is attacked by bandits, demons, and other assassins. When he buys a hotel, a prominent journalist and blackmailer is murdered in it. And then there are his repeated encounters with Lord Ermenwyr, the half-demonic, half-angelic noble with a positive gift for attracting chaos. But all of these are nothing to the plans the gods have for Smith--plans which may force Smith back into his former business on a cosmic scale.
