Movie Description The American Film Theater series was conceived in the 1970s by producer Ely Landau. Landau's idea was to blend the two mediums, the stage play and the movie, by filming a number of great plays and them showing them a few times a week at a theater where tickets must be bought in advance, as they would be at a play. The series produced a number of excellent adaptations of classic plays, five of which are included in this set: THE ICEMAN COMETH, THE MAIDS, RHINOCEROS, BUTLEY, and LUTHER. See individual titles for details.
