Movie Description
A team of divers on a prototype underwater oil-drilling rig are pressed into service by the U.S. Navy in a rescue effort for a sunken nuclear submarine. As the super powers and a gathering storm boil over above, the crew greets a discovery below with wonder and suspicion. Academy Award Nominations: 4, including Best Cinematography. Synopsis
An underwater adventure featuring deep-sea aliens. After a hurricane prevents a rescue crew searching for survivors of a submarine accident from surfacing, they encounter a strange and beautiful creature in the water. But a psycho commander's belief that the entity is a new Soviet weapon of war threatens to end the peaceful encounter and turn the ocean into a nuclear battlefield.
