With a line-up of Big Pun, Fat Joe, Triple Seis, Cuban Link, Prospect, and Armageddon, the highly touted Bronx crew puts in powerhouse performances on their group debut. Balancing the hardcore with the commercial, THE ALBUM starts on the street side with two thorough posse cuts--the brooding, piano-driven "In For Life" and the rugged head-nod anthem "Pass the Glock"--but it's not all pass-the-mic group sessions. Each of the six MCs gets ample opportunity to stand out with one solo joint apiece, and they all come correct lyrically. Still, Pun is the star of every song he's on, and the blustering verbal assault of his solo performance, "Whatcha Gon Do," is arguably the record's highpoint. While the second half is reserved for more danceable cuts (including the lusty, salsa-influenced "My Kinda Girls" and the dancehall-themed "Rudeboy Salute" featuring Buju Banton), THE ALBUM's hardcore side exceeds all expectations thanks to top-notch production from the Alchemist, the Beatnuts, and Buckwild.

Industry Reviews
...backed by solid production....it gives the consumers their money's worth....Fat Joe offers up the LP's stellar cut - the piano-laced 'Bring It On'....designed to be a proper introduction to Terror Squad Records. - Rating: B
Rap Pages (12/01/1999)

...Their brutal intensity and inventiveness over eerily claustrophobic grooves are truly terrifying. - Rating: B+
Entertainment Weekly (11/12/1999)

3.5 mics out of 5 - ...Terror Squad delivers an album of unapologetic hip-hop that sits out on park benches and breaks night with its listeners.
The Source (11/01/1999)

...once again banking on [Fat Joe's] eye for talent to pay dividends. Big Pun, rapping and singing, shines over tasty violins and face-pounding drums of 'Whatcha Gon Do?'....distinctive flows and charismatic Latin linguistics...
Vibe (11/01/1999)
