Synopsis
Winner of the 1948 Pulitzer Prize, Michener's first book is a collection of short stories, linked both thematically and with recurring characters, which portray a World War II anti-Japanese operation called "Alligator." This book was later the basis for the Rodgers & Hammerstein musical "South Pacific".
