Every fall, many local rivalries are renewed during the high school football season. This documentary focuses one such crosstown battle, the East Los Angeles Classic pitting the Garfield Bulldogs against the Roosevelt Rough Riders. Drawing support from over 55,000 fans who flock to the L.A. Coliseum to witness the gridiron match up, the game has become popular not only as a sporting event, but also as a showcase for Latino pride. SYMBOL OF HEART looks at 65 years of history behind this storied rivalry.
